"Many forces act upon a bullet in flight, and as the distance of a shot increases, so too does the influence that these forces can have on a bullet’s trajectory. Shooting at close range may not require the shooter to compensate much for these variables, but the further out a shot is taken, the more a rifleman must account for these effects on the projectile. Many will find that for shots made beyond point-blank range, a little computational assistance is appreciated—and for hits on targets at extreme range, can even become essential. Enter exterior ballistics software programs like Sierra Bullet’s Infinity line, now in its seventh version. Infinity 7’s ballistics calculator allows users to generate their own customized range cards taking into consideration the specific firearm being used, the particular bullet selected and any environmental conditions like winds, elevation, barometric pressure and temperature."
"It appears that the confidence in the economy may be another over-inflated attempt at masking the true state of affairs. In fact, some of the largest U.S. corporate conglomerates are planning for massive layoffs in the coming year. CEO of the Coca-Cola company, Muhtar Kent dubbed 2015 as a transition year and notes that 2015 will most notably be “the most important year for us to make the changes in terms of a leaner, better-operating model.” He adds, “The consumer is challenged everywhere around the world,” Kent said in a conference call. “There is a lot of volatility in the world, in currencies, in interest rates, in growth rates and in geopolitical issues.”
"One of the things that many builders find daunting about the idea of manufacturing firearms completely from scratch, is manufacturing a rifled barrel. There are two tough nuts to crack with barrel making. The first is deep hole drilling, which is still called in industry “gun drilling,” because the technology of deep hole drilling, which today has many industrial applications, was initially developed for making gun barrels. Gun drilling will be dealt with separately; today, we’re going to talk about rifling a drilled (and, usually, reamed to precise size) barrel blank."
"It is easy to misinterpret the signals of our economy from afar when we see people driving cars everywhere and we tend to think that our economy as not being that bad. However, the fact remains that 40 years ago Americans owned those cars that we see them driving. Today, we are renting them as 40% of us are leasing our vehicles. As we drive up and down our neighborhoods, we see people living in houses and we lie to ourselves and use this as a false barometer to convince ourselves that everything is OK. However, many of these homes we see people living in, have lost all of their equity. The logical answer to the question “When will we have a depression”, should be answered by stating “We have an $18 trillion dollar annual deficit and that is the good news. We have $240 trillion dollars of debt from unfunded liabilities and we have a stunning $1.5 quadrillion dollar debt. So, you better grab all the food, water, guns and ammunition that you can and run for the hills”! But as long we see people driving in cars and living in houses, most Americans are going to deny the truth. And the last thing that I wanted to do on the first day of a new year, was to be the harbinger of doom and gloom. Yet, I feel compelled to speak the truth, on this New Year’s Day, because I might be able to get one more person to take the steps necessary to help increase the odds of their survival in response to what is coming. History shows that one can count on four things occurring following the collapse of the dollar."
"I really don’t like to make predictions. I’m not Zoltan, the fortune-telling dude in the machine – you know, the one with the turban who waves his mechanical hands dramatically over a crystal ball and tells you of your future in a heavily accented voice. But, I think there is something coming in 2015 that we all need to be concerned about, and I wouldn’t be doing my job, writing these posts, if I didn’t warn you. Some people are going to roll their eyes and call me a doomer. Some people are going to say, “You warned us about stuff all the time, and it hardly ever happens.” Some people are going to revert to cognitive dissonance and say, “Life is too short to worry all the time.” But there is something very troubling on the horizon, and it’s going to affect us all. From most reports, the outlook for 2015 is not particularly bright."
"Police militarization continues and actually increased in the aftermath of Ferguson. The federal government shipped nearly 4,000 more assault rifles to local law enforcement agencies in the three months following the Ferguson riots, marking a huge surge in the amount of lethal firearms being doled out to police and sheriff’s offices."
"Plant a Pine Tree Because Someday It May Save Your Life. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the Missouri Botanical Garden accept 175 names of pines (conifers) as current. In most cases, they tend to be hardy trees in their native environment and they can be found practically anywhere. A pine tree may very well be your best friend if you find yourself lost or stranded in a wilderness environment."
"I first began to seriously look into the arguments that the world faces a terrifying over-population problem about a decade back, when I was researching for my book on the history of gene manipulation or GMO. I was curious and in a strange way impressed with the intensity of the interest of the Rockefeller family’s foundation and other organizations affiliated with that foundation to sponsor the study or the application of eugenics. The real story about our global population is radically different as from the picture the mainstream media would lead us to believe."

"The FBI has proven that it can legally dodge even the sparse amount of judicial checks and balances on its ability to search the records of Americans. After being denied twice in FISA Court for an order to collect records from an individual, a secret report reveals that the Bureau subsequently wrote its own order and went through with the surveillance, regardless of the court rejection. This revelation was found in a recently declassified document, titled “A Review of the FBI’s Use of Section 215 Orders for Business Records in 2006″ (PDF). It was written in 2008 by the DOJ Office of the Inspector General but not declassified until December 2014."
"With a staggering debt looming over the country, how vulnerable are Americans to starvation if and when an economic collapse takes down our economy? It is not a secret that the world is in a desperate situation when it comes to overall world hunger. The World Bank cites the disturbing fact that there have been 51 food riots in 37 countries in recent memory due to high food prices and the further escalation of food prices has no end in sight. The World Bank further speculates that the present state of food prices could lead to political instability and this is the kind of stuff that wars are made of. And what is the number one cause of rising food prices according to the World Bank? It is the increasing demand (see attached PDF) for food from a growing population inside of China. The future military implications should be self-evident. But what about the United States? How vulnerable are Americans to the possibility of mass starvation?"
"In this, the first of two posts on fracture care, we’ll be discussing collarbone fractures and how to treat them when medical help is not available. And yes… we’ll also show you how to break them!"
"Broken bones and apocalyptic destruction are as inseparable as preppers and bug-out-bags. So in this, our second post on fracture care, we’ll be showing you how to treat broken bones when medical help is not available."
"As preppers, or survivalists if you will, most of us are prepared for grid down/shtf events of various durations, ranging from several days to a year or more. Some of us have even put our training and prepping into practice during what have been essentially short term events. We have bullets, beans and bandages, water and the means to purify more, and possibly a stock of first aid/medical supplies far beyond a first aid kit. What happens though if a disaster such as a massive EMP event leading to a grid down, a massive earthquake or a financial crisis, causes problems that go beyond a year…..a disaster which not only cripples the government, but which negates the ability to aid the populace in a timely manner if at all? How long will your supplies last if you really have to dig into them? A major injury, friends and relatives showing up with their kids and no guns or other equipment, little food and wearing the clothes they were planning on wearing to the beach. All these will put a tremendous strain on your supplies and equipment…… And it’s late September……….and there IS NO WAY you and your wife and two kids, alone, can adequately defend your farm/ranchette/retreat! You will have to have help."
"Enjoying the Nebraska winter can be some of the most fun a person spends outdoors. Whether it’s hunting, ice fishing, cross country skiing, sledding or snowshoeing, the state has great outdoor opportunities. Being outdoors in the winter also means being safe in the coldest of temperatures. Avoiding hypothermia is key. Hypothermia is a low body temperature most often is caused by exposure to cold weather or immersion in a cold body of water. Left untreated, hypothermia can lead to complete failure of the heart and respiratory system and to death. Primary treatments for hypothermia are methods to warm the body back to a normal temperature. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission suggests hunters, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts dress warmly in layers of clothing that may be added or removed as necessary. Warm hats, gloves or mittens and boots will prevent heat loss through the top of the head, hands and feet. Anglers should wear a life vest on the ice."
